The Garo Baptist Convention is one of the oldest organizations in the North East India. It was founded by the American Baptist Society in the year 1867. It has ten church associations and two centres (2407 local churches). The total baptized members in the convention is about 2.3 Lacs. It is one of the six conventions under the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India. It caters of the needs of the Garo Churches in Garo Hills, parts of Khasi Hills and lower and middle Assam.
